I'm a second-year Ph.D. student focusing on the intellectual and cultural history of modern Europe, with particular interests in Britain c. 1850-1930 and in themes such as universities and other educational institutions; friendship; gender and sexuality; and the reception of the classical tradition. I received a B.A. from Princeton in 2012, and an M.Phil. from Oxford in 2014 with the thesis "Arthur Sidgwick: Living and Teaching Liberalism in Late-Victorian and Edwardian England." My article "Impossible Love and Victorian Values: J.A. Symonds and the Intellectual History of Homosexuality" appears in the October 2014 issue of the Journal of the History of Ideas.
